The action is intended to speed up the process of collaboration at European level between Member States on applied research. Structured communities of practice are formed, which will connect experts in several fields from civil society, partners and business representatives from across Europe, in order to find and evaluate for funding, innovative solutions to combat coronavirus and its effects. The proposed areas are extremely diverse and aim at the transfer of knowledge and innovative solutions that can be implemented throughout the European single market.
“This hackathon is a civil society hackathon. Anyone can participate. No special technical knowledge is required. If someone wants to help fight the coronavirus, the person should register. They can register as individuals or as a team. If he registers as an individual, he can join a team, through the tools we provide” said Isidro Laso Ballesteros, Deputy Director of DG Research and Innovation.

Hackaton-type actions aim to accelerate the identification and rapid introduction of new products and services on the market, and the proposed event is large-scale. Following the participation in this event, we will connect to the communities of practice that are formed and where we have expertise we will engage teachers, students, start-ups, clusters, digitization centers, technology transfer and other structures of the innovative ecosystem USH Pro Business, to the actions that are initiated ”declared Assoc. prof.
